'caught' virtues

As teachers, we interact with students everyday. This inevitably carries moral choices and decisions. Sometimes it is as simple as explaining what is ‘right’ and what is ‘wrong’
…but it is often much more complex.

'Caught' development of moral choices

Facing conflict in the classroom?

As you resolve conflict between students, ask them to consider the choices they have made.

Students facing personal difficulty?

When you intervene and offer support, consider the moral pathway.

communicating moral virtue

Do we understand our own version of moral virtue enough to be able to share it, rather than saying to children “what do you think is right?”

Please think of a moral dilemma you have dealt with during your teaching practice. Maybe there was a conflict between students? Or perhaps there was a situation you faced that you didn't quite know how to handle?

Did you consider the moral choice?
were you confident you made the right choice?
Did you ask for support?
if you could would you do anything differently?
